SILK

Silk is one of the oldest natural fibers in the world, and there are records dating the cultivation of silk back to 5000 BC. Traditionally, it was reserved for royalty and became known as the ‘queen of fabrics’ as it was prized for its elegance, hand feel and sheen. To this day, it is synonymous with luxury - a fabric that women turn to when they want to feel their most comfortable (be it a beautiful silk satin wedding dress or a simple yet chic silk scarf) - we are proud to work almost exclusively with this princely fabric.

Silk is hygroscopic, which means it keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter, making it a dream to sleep in. As a pure natural fiber, it has self-cleaning properties - simply airing it keeps it fresh between washes.

Silk can take on new properties when blended with other yarns, such as our plush silk velvet, or when altered through weaving techniques, such as our lightweight, matte silk crêpe de chine.
